Dan Gallagher, author, keynote speaker and recently retired, nationally recognized Certified Financial Planner with over 30 years of professional experience, launches The Secrets of Successful Financial Planning. The book highlights financial strategies and personal client stories and is targeted for the do-it-yourself, take-charge consumer.

For over three decades, Gallagher surveyed clients about their financial strategies and experiences prior to his engagements with them. Three issues kept surfacing:
1. The client did little or no planning, ignoring professional advice but occasionally taking ideas from magazine articles or other impersonal sources;
2. The client diligently planned, using self-help books or software that did not offer customized strategies based on the client’s specific situation;
3. The client hired biased or incompetent advisors, including professionals who used ghost-written books to promote financial products or fee-based services.

In his book, The Secrets of Successful Financial Planning, Gallagher reveals which aspects of a financial plan require a professional’s guidance and which parts can a savvy, well-educated, do-it-yourself, take-charge person handle him or herself.
