You have never seen a salon like this one! To kick off their fifteenth season of Literary Salons this Valentine's Day at Andaz Wall Street (75 Wall, enter at Water) Pen Parentis will help you love yourself and your neighbors at DISTURBINGLY RACY: a Pen Parentis Literary Salon special event at Andaz Wall Street.

Tuesday, February 14th at 7pm, three authors who write about race will be featured in a tricky panel discussion moderated by Wai Look Award-winner Christina Chiu and Salons veteran M. M. De Voe. Confirmed appearances by by Helen Wan, Karl Jacoby, and Shani Gilchrist. Helen Wan is well known for her novel about a minority woman lawyer intending to break the glass ceiling (THE PARTNER TRACK) and subsequent nonfiction about race and cultural identity in the workspace. Shani Gilchrist has spent her entire life as a journalist and essayist battling the race politics in South Carolina where she lives. In addition to his writing, Karl Jacoby is an esteemed Columbia University Professor in the Department of History and in the Center for the Study of Ethnicity and Race.

So, this Valentine's Day, leave the lovers' quarrels to teenagers and join the adults in intense conversations that celebrate the diversity of our wonderful country. Pen Parentis' featured authors are parents - expect intimate discussion of real-world truths, and how they affect us and future generations.

The night begins with networking over wine, compliments of Andaz Wall Street. Readings will be followed by Q&A moderated by Pen Parentis founder M. M. De Voe and Salons curator Christina Chiu. The event ends with mingling and book signings. Come join the festivities! The night kicks off at 7:00 pm, and admission is free with or without a date. Books will be vended for signings. Pen Parentis Literary Salons are a great place to meet book-loving neighbors as well as industry notables.
