DISASTER MASTER PLAN is Released

After authoring a couple of poetry books to inspire people- "Perspectives, Poems That Will Touch Your Heart" and "Pinnacle, Poems That Will Inspire You"- U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy veteran Lorraine Milton publishes a book to empower Americans to appropriately prepare for disaster. The experience with Hurricane Ivan and the knowledge of Hurricane Katrina impelled Milton to publish an informative disaster planning guide, titled Disaster Master Plan: Prepare Or Despair-It's Your Choice.

"I witnessed Hurricane Ivan (2004) devastation in Pensacola, Fla. when it slammed into the Gulf Coast. I stood in long lines on that September day in sweltering heat; I was hot, sweating, and tired. I was frustrated because the lines were a mile long while we stood in line waiting for FEMA and the Red Cross to give us basic supplies, like ice, water, milk, etc. They worked tirelessly with a smile on their face, trying to cheer us. They knew many of us had lost our home," Milton reminisces.

With her military and health care management experience, backed by her extensive educational backgroud, Milton knew she had the necessary knowledge, skills and experience to help people in disaster planning. Hence, she publishes a work with a two-fold mission: to provide information to everyone on how to prepare for disaster, and to assist in revitalizing Detroit, East Side Jefferson Street, from Grosse Pointe to Belle Isle Park.

Milton wrote her book to give information to fellow Americans on "How to" plan for a disaster and where to order disaster kits. After experiencing Category 5 hurricanes-with sustained winds greater than 136 knots (157 mph or 252 km/h)- and their terrible aftermath, Milton wants everyone to have relevant information that they can use, in advance, to prepare their families, neighbors, and businesses, in case of a power outage or disaster.

"Hurricane Katrina (2005) was a catastrophic hurricane which ruthlessly and horrifying demolished the Gulf Coast with raging floods from New Orleans to Mississippi and until this day some of the building have not been rebuilt and many of the residents did not return," shares Milton. "I thought it would be great if I could put together a disaster preparedness kit, so in case this happened again, we would be ready."

Milton understands the great need of educating and arming people with the tools needed to prepare for a disaster and of supporting the rebuilding of what has been destroyed. Informative, comprehensive, and highly practical, Disaster Master Plan: Prepare Or Despair-It's Your Choice is a guidebook that will help achieve both. Lorraine Milton served 21 years in the military service in Health Care Administration, 11 years in the U.S. Air Force, and 10 years in the U.S. Navy, and retired as Lieutenant on March 1995. She is now an Independent Business Owner (A.C.N.) She has four degrees including: M.S.
