GALESBURG, Ill.

Author D.C. Moses is pursuing a new marketing push for her novel, "Train from Thompsonville" (published by Trafford Publishing), which follows a Polish family in upstate New York from the 1930s to the 1950s.

"Train from Thompsonville" follows the Ludak family - immigrants from Poland - who are living in a factory town, dealing with unemployment and class and ethnic hostility. For Joanna Ludak, a teenager, life proves to be often adventurous and jubilant, but sometimes terrifying.

Joanna's coming-of-age as a Polish-Catholic, blue-collar, scrubbed-but-culturally-hobbled youngster is a riveting fictional odyssey of painful confrontations, growing friendships with an array of varied minority persons, and first love across class barriers.

A judge of the 18th Annual Writer's Digest Self-Published Book Awards called Moses' book: "A beautifully-written coming of age story, reminiscent in its quiet descriptions of the universal anxiety and agony of late childhood of the work of W. Somerset Maugham."

"Train from Thompsonville" will be featured at the 2015 London Book Fair running April 14-16.

Shortly after, she began a nearly two-decade career teaching high school and college English and creative writing, twice heading departments and, on occasion, publishing articles in educational journals.
