Comedian And Author Don Barnhart's New Book Rock Bottom Shines Light On Homeless Veterans With Humor And Grace

Don Barnhart brings awareness to the increasing numbers of homeless veterans and the epidemic proportions of veteran suicides in his new book Rock Bottom. "It's through his unique sense of humor that Don shines the light on such serious subjects."

Rock Bottom is the story of decorated military veteran Guy Derek who returns home after serving 'extended' tours in Afghanistan only to find that his wife has left him, his house is foreclosed and she gave away his dog. Reacting rather poorly to the situation he begins to drink...and he drinks a lot, spiraling downward until he finally hits rock bottom and ends up living on the streets of Las Vegas. In an effort to regain his life, Guy becomes the Robin Hood of the homeless finding out that pain plus time equals funny and eventually finds his way back through humor.

Since 1992, Don Barnhart has been entertaining the troops around the world with The USO, Armed Forces Entertainment and his own Battle Comics. When he's not on tour, Don is the resident headliner performing nightly at Jokesters Comedy Club in Las Vegas. Rock Bottom is loosely based on his life, experiences and pitfalls, which he jokes about in his standup routine proving that pain plus time really does equal funny.

Barnhart is currently working on the screenplay for Rock Bottom and plans to shoot the film later this year. He is also the author of the Best-seller Finding Your Funny, exploring the Art, Science and Business of Standup Comedy and Creating The Life You Desire. He is a contributing author on I Killed - True Stories of the Road from America's Top Comics.

"Don Barnhart's standup comedy show is a thrill ride of well-written, topical material exploring modern day society in a way that is hysterical, intelligent and thought provoking." Barnhart can be heard on the comedy channels on XM/Sirius Satellite Radio and is a regular on The Bob & Tom Show. He can be seen on Jokesters TV, Class Clowns,Finding The Funny, The Freedom of Speech Comedy Show, and China Dolls.

In his off time, Barnhart teaches standup, improvisation and comedy writing at The Las Vegas Comedy Institute.
