Clarence William Sickles traces the history of the famed Decalogue in his book, "A History of the Ten Commandments" (published by Xlibris). This book is essential reading for those seeking to discover information about the greatest document in human history and wanting to learn about a new moral standard desperately needed in the ethically corrupt world of the present day.

The book focuses on an analysis of the Ten Commandments as found in Exodus 20 and Deuteronomy 5 and traces the historical development of this document over the centuries which resulted in the production of 17 versions. The meaning of each version is explained in relation to the community of Israel and the Christian Church. A modern moral code based on the Ten Commandments, but non-religious in nature, is presented for possible display in the secular community.

"I think this book will appeal to readers because humans are basically good but are unsure as to how this goodness can be nurtured and identified with specific acts in the realm of morality," Sickles says.

This book not only examines the historical background of the Ten Commandments. It also provides the needed roadmap for those people who are endeavoring to lead a righteous and just life. In its essence, "A History of the Ten Commandments" acts as a modern moral code which can be universally practiced by believers and nonbelievers alike.
