Chris Conrad Asks WHY DID JESUS HAVE TO DIE? in New Book

It could easily be argued that Christianity is mainly based on faith without evidence to prove it - and Christians seem to be okay with that. Although most demand hard facts to back up scientific theories, with religion we tend to simply believe what we believe.

Author Chris Conrad thinks reason and logic should be used in religion as it is used in science. In Conrad's new book, "Why Did Jesus Have to Die?," he takes a critical look at biblical history to explain why God does the things he does, and to illustrate to readers that they don't have to be a theologian to understand the Bible.

"I taught science, math and Bible for a number of years," Conrad said. "I understand how people see God and why they fear him. I also know that people demand logic and evidence to back up scientific theories, but accept religious views without either."

Conrad said it's unacceptable to see Jesus' crucifixion as a legal swap. He said, "The main reason Jesus had to die was to demonstrate the truth that had been challenged by Satan - a clarification of what God told Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden about the consequences of sin. Using train tracks and a damsel in distress challenges the logic of the traditional view of the cross and salvation."

"Why Did Jesus Have to Die?" attempts to answer questions about who we are, where we came from and where we're going. Conrad also hopes to alleviate the fear many Christians have that God is a disciplinarian with no remorse.

"God prefers we have a friendly, loving relationship with him, not one as a servant to a king," Conrad said. "He wants us to do what is right because it is right, not because we're told. Only by love is love awakened. Try force with your kids and see what you get."
