Charles Collins, author of the novel What Happened?, returns to the world of literature with Transforming Homeboy. Now writing as Charlie Soul, he crafts a brilliantly wrought tale of a man in search of himself and hungry for a deeper understanding of the world around him.

Set in the African continent, the story follows the eponymous Homeboy, a unique mammal that was created from a falling star. He is illiterate and is considered ignorant by his peers. Tired of being the subject of ridicule by others who are supposedly more intelligent and better-looking than him, Homeboy finally decides to relocate to America where he pursues education. Along the way, he learns about God and the more spiritual aspects of his existence. The conclusion to his extraordinary odyssey is uncertain but for sure it will transform Homeboy forever.

Taking turns to be exciting and edifying, Transforming Homeboy brings together a heady mix of richly drawn characters, dramatic adventure and metaphysical themes to tell an exquisitely nuanced story of humankind's perennial need to belong and understand himself.
