During an English class project in high school, author C.V. Mason found himself quickly overwhelmed by the thoughts racing around his mind. What began as a writing assignment quickly turned into deep self-reflection and introspection. This soon led to a realization: he had to tell his story to the world.

Mason invites readers to step into his mind in his new poetry collection, "I Am the Wind" (published by AuthorHouse), in which he uses poetic verse to convey his deepest thoughts, concerns and emotions.

"I Am the Wind" chronicles the journey of a man overcoming, living and breathing in the wake of his father's footsteps. Due to his desire for his father's presence, Mason struggled with finding his identity. The poems in his debut collection reflect this struggle, one he feels many people face. He hopes that by sharing his journey, others will be able to find their own paths and change the things they're unhappy with in their lives.

An excerpt from the titular poem in "I Am the Wind":

"I can be the gentle breeze across your face
I can be the furious wind blowing all over the place
I can be the nonchalant wind that blows around
Or I can be the tornado that destroys your town"
