Author Angela Lemanis invites her readers to join her in Contemplating Life From The Back Step. In this book, she tells an uplifting tale of the life lessons she learned from three passionate, energetic and wise Boxer dogs that popped into her life and imparted their knowledge and doggie wisdom at times when she needed it most.

Lemanis shares the insights she gained from watching her three Boxer dogs - Towser, Sammie and Max - approach life, and how they seemed to instinctively know how to enjoy themselves and fill their days savouring each and every moment. It was as if the author's canine companions knew something she didn't, or paid attention to things that she should have. This prompted Lemanis to seek the "doggie wisdom" that allowed her Boxers to live happy carefree lives.

Contemplating Life From the Back Step also covers the experiences of being the owner to three highly-spirited dogs and the hijinks that ensue. Lemanis recounts the times she conducted a 'stakeout and sting' operation to catch Sammie swinging from the clothes on the clothesline; erected an electric fence around the garden to keep Towser from his garden anarchy; vacuumed the back lawn (yes, you read that right); raced to the vet on more than one occasion; and witnessed a few very embarrassing moments at a dog show. These experiences gave the author a special kind of insight, teaching her important traits like patience, perseverance and resourcefulness. While her dogs' teaching techniques are unique, to say the least, readers will see that each life lesson was cloaked in affection and dispensed with boundless energy.

Contemplating Life from the Back Step will make readers think about how simple a dog's existence is, and the lessons we could all learn from them if we took the time to watch. Dog lovers will find Lemanis' account relatable, humorous and ultimately insightful and rewarding, as it casts a new light on the nature of man's best friends.
