Writing allows people to express themselves, and people with a lot on their mind are no exception. The author of this new book of poetry, who is bi-polar, writes poems as a way to relax and let out some of the dark thoughts he has in the world, which he sees in stark black and white - not shades of gray. Although he could sink to the depths of despair, given his choice to laugh or cry, he chooses to laugh and provide insight into a world of his making.

"Bi-Polar Poems" shows other sufferers of this condition that they are not alone. Author Tom Sebell lets his sense of humor shine like a beacon of light in the darkness. As he writes in one short selection, "If I took an IQ test, the results would say buy him a helmet." Another poem pokes fun of the long-standing nature of his illness: "When I was little I was so screwed up even the little bus rode by me and waved." But Sebell can be serious as well, such as a poem in which he describes the isolation he sometimes feels: "Most people could not handle our bi-polar mind, none the less deal with our bi-polar world."

Author Tom Sebell, who has been diagnosed as bi-polar, is married and has a son. He lives in Pennsville, N.J. Sebell credits his family and friends for helping him make it through life.
