In 1984, over 30 years after the Korean War and 20 years of marriage, author Zakary Scott's wife asked, "What happened over there?" In his new book, "War Wounds: Korea 1952" (published by Xlibris), he answers this question, revisiting the horrors that he lived through.

This is a story about Korea in 1952 told through the eyes of a 20-year-old medic trainee. It includes some methods, tools and morals of the day, or the lack of them. Despite pressures and uncertainties, there are exhilarating adventures as one person struggles to navigate his way through a stressful period of time. It is also a glimpse into a dark episode in Korea's history that was hushed into forgetfulness, and the horrific experiences that many war veterans went through. This book takes a look into some of the wounds that war inflicted and the scars that still remain today.

An excerpt from the book:
The largest voice in the universe deeply thundered, "Your work is not finished! Help is coming!" I was receding back at a tremendous speed. What was pointed out came clearly into view. I saw two dolphins racing towards my body. The first dolphin hit my left rib cage. Instantly I zapped back inside my extremely cold body. The second dolphin thrust me into a wave. Its turbulence swirled gravel and sand around me.

A tough and no-holds barred account, "War Wounds: Korea 1952" does not shy away from the factual, bloody and gory details. It tells readers about a lot of things in a war zone, exploring the varied wounds that such ordeal could cause. Scott says, "It is not about the rich, famous or powerful. It is about grunts in a foxhole upholding our honor."
