Author Shares Story of Mother's Strength and Inspiration Born in India during World War II, Kamal Krishna Laha struggled early in life. He survived typhoid fever, was unable to walk for years, and his family lived in poverty. However, his mother's bravery inspired him to overcome hardship and helped him succeed, as detailed in his autobiography, "Blessings of a Mother to a Son."

Living through famine and social turmoil in India, Laha's poverty status prevented him from attending university. Later, he received a scholarship from Ramakrishna Mission Shilpamandira, Belur Math and completed his degree in electrical engineering (AMIE) from the Institution of Engineers (India) and was elected to LifeFIE(I) and FIEAust. Laha eventually started working abroad and found success thanks to his mother's support. FIEAust awarded Laha the Professional Engineer of the Year 2017.

"The inspiration for this autobiography came from my first grandson," said Laha. "Having been away from my homeland for decades, I wrote the book to cover our family history for future generations."

"Blessings of a Mother to a Son" serves as a reminder of how a mother's determination and individual perseverance can bring her children success regardless of finances or social standing.
