She is the past president of the University of Michigan's University Event Planners organization and is a member of the Religious Conference Management Association and All Things Artistic Ministries, Inc. Christian Writers. She holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from Bowie State University and a master's degree in educational psychology from the University of Michigan.
