Set in author Annette Watson's hometown of Caney, Okla., "Kayla's Story: Going Home Early" (published by WestBow Press) is one of enduring faith in the midst of terrible loss. Through Watson, readers experience her daughter, Kayla's, life and legacy, and Watson's incredible pain at having a child "go home early."

For the Watson family, life was wonderful - until tragedy struck, and a car accident instantly took Kayla's life in 2004 at the age of 21. "'Kayla's Story' is the story of her life, told from her perspective through letters and journals she left behind and from my letters to her after her death," Watson explains. "It is story of a young girl who was completely yielded to God throughout her life and was able to influence so many while on earth and even still in her death."

An excerpt from "Kayla's Story":

"I remember you walking to class at Kindergarten with your pooh bear holding an 'I love you sign' behind your back all the way to the room to show me you loved me... I remember that the day before your death you telling me 'I am so ready to go to heaven...' I remember being told that my baby girl was dead and how my heart immediately died also. I remember thinking how will I ever live one day without my precious baby girl."

"Kayla's Story" tells of her life and her family's continued struggle to live through the heartbreak of losing her.
