Alfred Lee Anduze teaches readers acute medical care pertinent to emergency situations in a remote rural setting, specifically in a farm, with his latest book release. "First Aid on the Farm" (published by iUniverse) is a compendium of his education and experience in clinical medicine and lifetime with medicinal plants.

The book provides readers with the essentials needed for acute medical care when not in the immediate vicinity of a hospital, as well as indicates when to seek additional care for the situation.

Medical emergency in the farm is critical and adequate first aid is highly valuable. It is often located in a remote area, away from adequate medical facilities, with high exposure to sun, insects, reptiles, poisonous plants, wind, dust and variable temperatures. Also, farming activities are highly susceptible to accidents due to use of tools, machinery, animal care, difficult terrain and use of cleaning materials that may lead to a higher incidence of infections from bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites.

Anduze provides a quick, easy guide to the recognition and treatment of basic emergency conditions that may be encountered on a farm in the tropics. In addition to the conventional treatments and medications, "First Aid on the Farm" suggests natural treatments using products that may be present in the farm and in surrounding forests.

"The book is relevant as people are hopefully getting back in touch with nature and the outdoors. I want readers to learn the basics of emergency treatment, and that much can be accomplished outside of a medical facility," Anduze says.
