The Jewish Repertory Theatre opens its 2017/18 season, A Sentimental Journey, with VISITING MR. GREEN, by Jeff Baron, October 19 - November 12, 2017.

In 2017 the theatre world celebrates 20 years of this much-loved and awarded play which has been produced more than 500 times in 46 countries and in 23 languages. The play has the unique distinction of being winner of best play award in Greece, Mexico, Israel, Czech Republic and Turkey!

Mr. Green, an elderly, retired dry cleaner wanders into New York traffic and is almost hit by a car driven by Ross Gardiner, a 29-year-old corporate executive. The young man is given a court ordered community service requirement to help the recent widower once a week for six months. What begins as a comedy about two men who do not want to be in the same room together becomes a gripping, moving drama as they get to know each other, and open old wounds they've been hiding and nursing for years.

VISITING MR. GREEN was first produced by the Jewish Repertory Theatre in its first season and starred Saul Elkin and Buffalo actor/director Chris Kelly. Reprising the role of Mr. Green 15 years later has been a long-time interest for Elkin.

"Fifteen years ago, and to this day, I hear my own father's voice in Mr. Green, an endearing and stubborn, elderly Jewish gentleman," says Elkin. "Now that I am an elderly Jewish gentleman I welcome the opportunity to lovingly recreate that voice."

VISITING MR. GREEN is directed by Steve Vaughan and stars Saul Elkin and Nick Stevens. Brian Cavanagh is Lighting Designer, Kari Drozd is Costume Designer, Tom Makar is Sound Designer, David Dwyer is Set Designer and Mike Benoit is Property Master. Amelia Scinta is Stage Manager, Mike Benoit is Assistant Stage Manager, Jessica Lake Mason is House Manager and Linda Hanes is Box Office Manager.

The Jewish Repertory Theatre of Western New York is a program of the JCC of Greater Buffalo. This season's original artwork is created by artist Eta Rottenberg. All productions take place in The Maxine and Robert Seller Theatre, located in the Jewish Community Center at 2640 North Forest Road, Amherst, NY.
