Explore Music With Suzuki Violinists Of WNY And The JCC, 10/7 ImageJoin the Jewish Community Center of Greater Buffalo Cultural Arts department and Suzuki Violinists of WNY as they partner to present an afternoon of hands-on family fun with instruments! This event is sponsored by Wrona's House of Violins, located in Lewiston, NY.

On Sunday October 7, 2018 from 2:00 - 3:30 pm in the Lippman Lounge on the second floor of the JCC Benderson Family Building, 2640 North Forest Rd., children will have the chance to hold a bow, make music on a violin and interact with performers from Suzuki Violinists of WNY at an Instrument Petting Zoo, fun instruments provided by Wrona's House of Violins, followed by a concert exploring sounds and emotions! Children will also be able to make a music-inspired craft and be encouraged to play along during the concert.

"Exposure to orchestral instruments in a fun, interactive way can help to build a lifelong interest in music and develop Yetzirah- Creativity," says Katie Wzontek Director of Cultural Arts at the JCC. "Our interactive programs are a great place for children and their parents, grandparents or caregivers to share special moments together. These programs are open to the entire community and are a perfect way to meet and engage with other families while making memories with your own," says Wzontek.

Eloisa Raffel founded Suzuki Violinists of WNY in 2006. She is regarded as one of the foremost teachers of Suzuki in the region. She began as a Suzuki student herself in her native Brazil at age 5, has studied and performed in 23 countries around the world, and now has two flourishing studios in North Buffalo and Williamsville.

"Our mission is to inspire and develop great hearts and minds through the learning and appreciation of music", says Raffel. "We are a diverse community and believe that making music together develops creativity, emotion and an understanding of different cultures. 'From children to children' is one of our mottos. The more our children appreciate and help each other the better our world will become, and since music is a universal language, it is the perfect medium for that."

The JCC and Suzuki Violinists of WNY are proud to present this event in participation with "Kids Music Day". This special day was established three years ago by the Keep Music Alive non-profit organization, and last year over 420 music schools and organizations, in the US and Canada, participated in "Kids Music Day". We are looking forward to sharing in the mission of making music available to all children!

This is a Free event open to the community, RSVP required, 204-2084.
