MCL: What is 100 Thousand Poets for Change (Global) 2014?

NF: Poets around the USA, and across the planet, gathered in a demonstration/celebration of poetry to promote serious social, environmental, and political change started by Guerneville poet Michael Rothenberg.

MCL: When did it start?

NF: It began in 2011.

MCL:When did it start in Buffalo, NY?

NF: Poet & Professor David Landrey brought it to Buffalo.

MCL: When did you get involved? What is your involvement?

NF: David Landrey asked Just Buffalo Literary Center if we would be interested in hosting the event.

MCL: It's not just Poets?

NF: No, the event is open to poets, musicians, artists, and anyone who wants to share work related to change. This year we have 6 bands performing between the sets of poetry.

MCL: How do people get involved?

NF: People can sign up online at justbuffalo.org, though we closed the registration last week, as we have over 150 readers, performers & musicians.

MCL: Will you be performing?

NF: Yes, I will be reading one or two poems.

MCL: What kind of poetry are you looking for?

NF: There is no specific type of poetry we are looking for, just poems that relate, in some way, to change. We are open to what the idea of change means in everyone.

MCL: What is it that you want people to take away from this event?

NF: A collective sense of community, and a new appreciation and understanding of how poetry can play a part in bringing the community together.
