Sophie Amieva Theater Company to Stage New Work MEDUSA with Experimental Bitch Presents

Medusa, an original movement theater piece, will run for four performances from January 12th-14th at HappyLucky No.1 in Crown Heights, Brooklyn.

Creator and Director Sophie Amieva was struck by Ovid's portrayal of Medusa as a young maiden turned into the monster we know as a result of being raped by Poseidon.

This piece, inspired by Medusa's story, is about women and the stories of their bodies and pleasures. From Salome to Eve, how do we define a woman's ascent to pleasure and org*sm? To be feminist, do we need to redefine sexuality as a whole? Today, can we look Medusa in the eyes?

Experimental Bitch Presents is a risk-taking organization that does not play it safe. We are proud to be a space-finding, opportunity-making, education-seeking agent. By re-claiming the title of "bitch" and blowing up the barriers surrounding femininity, feminism and the hierarchies within sexuality and gender, EBP celebrates the bitch in each of you. Face your fear. Face the bitch. Love the bitch.
