RSVP Returns To Arlo NoMad For Four Performances

GrumpyFILMS & PRODUCTIONS today announced a slate of performers for their next "RSVP", an acronym for Real Sexy Variety Party, Variety Show in residence at the Arlo NoMad on April 20-21 for four performances.

"It really is such a unique kind of evening," says Jason Jude Hill, Co-Executive Producer of RSVP. "The 90-minute length makes it more of an event than your standard bar show. The soft seating and cozy atmosphere allow you, with the absence of the traditional chairs-and-stage divide, to relax and engage in the evening. And the longer sets for each of our artists provide the opportunity to get to know these fantastic NYC artists a little better. They can really get into their sets and connect with our guests on a conversational level. I've seen it happen time and again."

"The number of genres found in any one edition is, unfortunately, pretty unique in New York live shows as well," adds Daniel Sears, Co-Executive Producer of RSVP. "So many live shows that tout themselves as 'variety' still rely on one artistic discipline, with maybe one or two slots filled with something different. You are, in essence, still seeing a comedy show, or a burlesque show. In any one edition of RSVP, you might see a ventriloquist that was mentored by Shari Lewis, or a rock bassist that once worked with Basquiat, or a magician that used to busk the streets of Japan. Beatboxers, drag marionettes, a theremin player -- we pride ourselves on tailoring an experience from a bill of artists that is as varied as possible. Where else in New York can you get that?"

Host Selena Coppock adds, "Every project that the Grumpy Films guys dream up is top notch so I am thrilled and honored to be hosting this weekend of shows. The venue is intimate and special, the acts are superlative talents, and the drinks are delicious-what more could you ask for?"

The April edition cast includes bassist & singer Felice Rosser, character comedian Katie Hartman, and off-beat magic by Magic Brian! With two more acts to be announced!

About GrumpyFILMS & Productions
GrumpyFILMS is a production and development company centered in Brooklyn, NY and dedicated to creating content made for our digital age, but still with a strong influence from the proven styles of comedy that have come before. In 2009, they began their successful series of 100+ comedy videos called "Short Shorts" which has gained them a die-hard fan base and many successful partnerships. The Huffington Post even named the series one of "the best gay webseries you've never heard of."

In 2016, as part of their 10th Anniversary, they formed GrumpyProductions, which focuses on live events and performances including their modern variety experience, Brooklyn Loft Party. Regardless of the medium, they continue to combine a Yankee sensibility with a Midwestern "can-do" ethos when tackling any endeavor. Plus, they look good in tuxes and can be rented out for a nominal fee.
