LAURA & DEANNA Come to the Annoyance Theatre!

LAURA and DEANNA is a show made up of two unconventional solo pieces performed back to back in the same time slot. DEANNA will show first with a run time of 20 minutes, followed by LAURA which runs 45 minutes.

Deanna wants to make it clear that this is NOT a show about rape. It's not even a rape show!

DEANNA is an engaging storytelling comedy show that explores the humor and struggles of adolescence with the added layer of processing life after becoming a survivor of sexual assault. It's hard enough getting turned down for prom by seven different people even without dealing with night terrors! This piece uses loose narrative to tell a coming of age story with a sense of distorted reality - leaving the audience feeling moments of discomfort, but mostly warmth, kind of like peeing your pants. Deanna knows what you're thinking - rape isn't funny! You're right! It's super not funny! But Deanna bets that she can make you laugh (but not like a large bet, like a small fun inconsequential bet, because Deanna has a bit of an addictive personality so getting into gambling feels like a risky idea).

"I cum squirt blood", Laura admits at the end of the show, LAURA. A statement jarring to hear from such a sweet, girl-next-door archetype - not to mention physically impossible. At this point though, the audience is used to anything coming out of Laura's mouth, including her clam chowder lunch or ice cream cum (ice cream cum is when you make love to a pint of Ben and Jerry's Cherry Garcia and then the pint ejaculates in your mouth - which you then spit out because swallowing is too many calories).

LAURA is an experimental and theatrical comedy show that consists of elaborate jokes based on Laura's life. Some jokes are dark, about eating disorders or absent fathers. Some jokes are bizarre, like all of the jokes. The audience will laugh, laugh, and ask the question "what?" then leave feeling uplifted and empowered by Laura's blistering honesty and frank ownership of self.

LAURA and DEANNA is an evening of comedy featuring two back to back one woman shows. We do some weird stuff, fun stuff, dark stuff, and emotional stuff proving that women CAN do it all!
