D3C and bkONE to Present THE KRAMPUS: A PUNK ROCK PLAY WITH SONGS, Today

By:

Dialogue with Three Chords (D3C) and BrooklynONE (bkONE) Productions team to present THE KRAMPUS: A PUNK ROCK PLAY WITH SONGS from playwright Stephen Gracia.

The play shows a lesser known side to the Santa Claus mythos as a group of friends bond at a bar on Christmas Eve and share their childhood fears of "The Krampus," a real figure from Norse mythology. Directed by Michael LoPorto, who founded D3C with Gracia, the darkly funny show features original music in the form of bawdy holiday carols.

The show starts at 8:30pm on Friday, December 11 at The Jalopy Theatre on 315 Columbia Street, Brooklyn NY 11231. Tickets are $10. Tickets are available at the venue, or by visiting www.artful.ly/store/events/7783.

In THE KRAMPUS, an old circle of friends seek to banish holiday stress as they gather at a Brooklyn bar to drink and commiserate. They sing songs, cracks jokes, and tell stories that are by turns heartfelt and heartbreaking, while others are simply filthy. The lighthearted banter soon takes on a more personal tone, as the group reflect on their own childhoods and memories of the Krampus story.

"THE KRAMPUS is a play about families of chance, families of choice, childhood monsters, and the joy of new traditions," said Gracia. BkONE co-founder Anthony Marino said his organization were "fans of the Krampus mythology," and that "it seemed a perfect fit."

"The Krampus" features: Emmanuel Elpenord as Dylan, Anthony Marino as Doug, Tina Wong-Lu as Rebecca, Tim McCann as Kevin, Jessica Bathurst as Jane, Kendra Leigh Landon as Diane, Ridley Parson as Eric and Steven R. Weinblatt as Our Narrator.

Musician Tommy Lombardozzi will play a set to follow the show.
