Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce to Host 'Talking Transition' Event, 11/9

By:

The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce is thrilled to announce that it will be hosting a panel discussion on the Brooklyn Innovation Economy on Saturday, November 9 starting at 6 p.m. in partnership with the opening weekend of "Talking Transition."

The event will take place in a tent that has been erected on Canal and Varick Streets in Lower Manhattan. The program is part of "Talking Transition," a non-partisan, 15-day event that will highlight important issues for the next mayor and New York City's future.

"Brooklyn is booming and it is critical to introduce policies that support 'makers' who are spurring job and economic growth throughout New York City," said Carlo A. Scissura, President & CEO of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce. "People need to come out and make their voices heard as well as experience what is going on in Brooklyn."

Take a walk down Innovation Alley and experience a "Makers' demo" featuring the winners of the first ever "Made in Brooklyn" award winners and other cutting edge manufacturers - with demonstrations, samples, hardware, furniture, apps, naturopathy and lots more!

At 7 p.m., enjoy a panel discussion brought to you and moderated by the Hearst Corporation's Popular Mechanics magazine featuring MakerBot, FCS Modular, Terreform ONE, Lumi Solair, Industry City Distillery and NYU Polytechnic, with special remarks by the Northside Media Group. Afterparty to follow with a hot Brooklyn DJ!

The panel, which will be moderated by Popular Mechanics Special Projects Editor Joe Bargmann, includes:

- Bre Pettis, Co-Founder and CEO, MakerBot Industries
- Roger Krulak, project leader, FC + Skanska Modular, which is building the world's tallest modular structure as part of the Atlantic Yards (Barclays Center) development.

- Mitch Joachim, Co-Founder of Terreform ONE
- David Kyrejko, Co-founder of Industry City Distillery
- Gerry Gorman, President and COO of Lumi Solair, creator of the solar streetlight
- Sayar Lonial, Senior Director of Marketing and Communications, NYU-Poly Graduate School

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, visit www.talkingtransitionnyc.com.
