Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce Now Accepting Nominations for Annual Building Brooklyn Awards

By:

The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce is thrilled to announce that it is now accepting nominations for the 2014 Building Brooklyn Awards, our annual real estate industry event recognizing recently completed and renovated construction projects that have had a positive impact on the borough's economy.

"The 14th Annual Building Brooklyn Awards is another opportunity for us to honor and highlight the very best architectural and economic development projects of our borough," said Carlo A. Scissura, President & CEO of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce. "As always, we welcome submissions from Brooklyn's many civic institutions, recreational facilities and retail spaces."

"As we have seen over the past few years, Brooklyn has increasingly become home to a lot of great real estate projects - indeed some of the best in New York City - and these awards help spotlight many of the borough's wonderful public places," said Brooklyn Chamber Board Chair Denise Arbesu. "It also highlights the positive impact these projects have on job creation and retention, which has been the catalyst for Brooklyn's unprecedented economic boom."

"The Building Brooklyn Awards are a celebration of the real estate community in Brooklyn and allows us the chance to honor the projects that have made a difference," said Ofer Cohen, Co-Chair of the Brooklyn Chamber's Real Estate Committee and Founder/President of TerraCRG. "The number of projects that enter the competition grows each year - yet another sign of Brooklyn's real estate boom - and I look forward to honoring the winners this summer."

"The Building Brooklyn Awards is an event I look forward to each summer," added Caroline Pardo, Co-Chair of the Brooklyn Chamber's Real Estate Committee and Director of Leasing at Jamestown Properties. "It is a celebration of Brooklyn architecture and highlights the great buildings, both new and refurbished ones, which are part of the borough's ever-changing landscape. I look forward to this year's nominees and the awards ceremony in July."

Nomination forms can be downloaded at: http://www.ibrooklyn.com/go_brooklyn/building_brooklyn_awards_-_2014.aspx. The deadline is Friday, February 28.

This year's award ceremony and cocktail reception will take place in July at a yet-to-be named venue.

Nominations are welcome for built projects and will be judged on specific criteria, which includes design and innovation and how they enrich Brooklyn's neighborhoods and economy.

Projects nominated in 2013 that were not recognized with an award may be re-submitted for consideration this year. As usual, an independent jury of architects, city planners, experts, and business leaders will select the winners.
