A TIME TO KILL, Adapted From John Grisham's Novel, Will Open at Group Rep

The Group Rep will present the courtroom drama A TIME TO KILL, adapted for the stage by Rupert Holmes and directed by Tom Lazarus, and produced by Stevie Stern for the Group Rep.

This riveting courtroom drama tells the story of a young, idealistic-and-untested lawyer, Jake Brigance, defending a black man, Carl Lee Hailey, for taking the law into his own hands following an unspeakable crime committed against his young daughter. Grisham has described his novel as "very autobiographical," and the drama is based on a case he witnessed where a 12-year-old victim gave the most harrowing testimony he had ever heard.

The Group Rep cast features the talents of Patrick Anthony, Reed Michael Campbell, Dominic Ryan Gabriel, Jennifer C. Holmes, Hudson Long, Michael C. Mahon, Adam Mattson, Rosney Mauger, Sherrick O'Quinn, Anica Petrovic, James Lawrence Powell, Steve Rozic, Mark Stancato, Neil Thompson, Sandra Tucker, Troy Whitaker and Steve Young.

The production and design team includes Stevie Stern (Producer),Tom Lazarus (Set Design), Noemi Barrera (Lighting Design), Shon LeBlanc (Costume Design), Avi Kipper (Sound Design), Alex Salkin (Property Master), Denise Downer (Marketing), Nora Feldman (Public Relations), Doug Haverty (Graphic Design), Lee Redmond (Set Build Foreman), Kristin Stancato (Board Operator), John Ledley (Stage Manager), Anica Petrovic & Hartley Powers (Social Media Promotional Video) & Lazarus/Engalla (Photography).

The play runs May 22 through June 28, 2026. Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00pm. Sundays at 2:00pm. "After the Matinee: Talkback with cast and staff" 5/24 & 5/31.

Tickets: General Admission: $36.00. Seniors & Students with ID: $30.00. Parties 10+: $25.00.
