Live Performance Australia™ (LPA) announced today that Liza McLean will be the Executive Producer of the Helpmann Awards® in 2013.

Chief Executive, Evelyn Richardson said, “We are delighted to welcome Liza aboard for the next phase of the Helpmanns journey. Liza has worked with us for several years on the show and we very much look forward to her bringing a new vision and energy to the Awards.”

McLean has worked in the entertainment industry in Australia and overseas for the past 20 years, working and collaborating with Australian and international producers and some of the world’s finest actors, singers and performers. Her producing credits include Kevin Spacey in Richard III 2011, Waiting for Godot starring Sir Ian McKellen – Australia and New Zealand Tour 2010, The Graduate staring Jerry Hall – 2010 Perth Season as well as the Helpmann Award® winning production of The 39 Steps which toured Hong Kong, Sydney, and Melbourne as well as regional Australia in 2008 and 2009.

McLean has had a long association with the Helpmann Awards®, taking on the role of Associate Producer in 2007, 2008 and 2009 and again as Strategic Advisor in 2011.

Handing over the baton to Liza McLean, current Executive Producer, Jon Nicholls said “I am very happy that Liza McLean has agreed to be the next Executive Producer. Liza and I have worked very closely over the past three years and her knowledge of HAAC and the fact that she is an experienced Producer will mean that the transition will be easy. I wish her every success and hope she has as much fun and excitement as I have enjoyed over the past seven years”.

The 2012 Helpmann Awards® will be hosted at the Opera Theatre, Sydney Opera House on Monday 24 September, and will be broadcast exclusively the following night on Australia’s arts and entertainment channel STUDIO – channel 132 on Foxtel. Watch the full ceremony on Tuesday 25 September at 8.30pm.
