Ben Folds & yMusic to Play QPAC

Multi-platinum singer/songwriter/producer Ben Folds returns to the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) Concert Hall on Thursday 18 August 2016 as part of his Australian tour, performing with celebrated New York City-based chamber ensemble yMusic.

Folds and yMusic will showcase new songs off his recently released record So There which debuted at #1 on both Billboard's Classical and Classical Crossover charts, as well as other familiar hits.

NPR radio heralded So There as "the most loveable piece of music I've ever heard from Ben Folds"; while The Guardian wrote "for the new tracks with yMusic, the textures of the ensemble instruments, string trio, flute, clarinet and trumpet, are not ornamentally grafted on the music; they are the music."

For Ben Folds this tour is like coming home.

Bringing his lyrical wit, hooks and harmony to a new suite of 'chamber rock' songs, Folds draws upon yMusic's singular makeup: an ambitious sextet who have performed with the likes of Beck, Jose Gonzalez and Dirty Projectors.

Folds first found mainstream success as the leader of the critically acclaimed Ben Folds Five. He has gone on to have a very successful solo career, recording multiple studio albums, a pair of records documenting his renowned live performances, a remix record, music for film and TV, as well as numerous collaborations with artists from Sara Bareilles to William Shatner.
