August Wilson's Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning drama The Piano Lesson is set in Pittsburgh's Hill District in 1936, centering on siblings Boy Willie and Berniece as they battle over a family heirloom piano carved by their enslaved ancestor. The production is directed by James Ijames, Pulitzer Prize winner for Fat Ham. Akeem Davis leads the cast as Boy Willie, with Jessica Johnson as Berniece, Kash Goins as Doaker, Terrence Clowe as Wining Boy, Christopher James Murray as Lymon, Johnnie Hobbs III as Avery, Jessica Money as Grace, and Leonice Diaz as Maretha. The production marks Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival's return to Wilson's American Century Cycle, following its 2022 production of Fences.
