Vermont Day Held At The VT Plays Festival At Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA 11/6
Saturday, November 6 is Vermont Day at The Shirley, VT Plays festival, a landmark local collaboration to produce break out writer Annie Baker's first three plays - Body Awareness, produced by SpeakEasy Stage Company, Circle Mirror Transformation, produced by the Huntington, and The Aliens, produced by Company One. All three plays take place in the fictional town of Shirley, VT, conceived in the imagination of the playwright.
Though the town is imagined, theatregoers can enjoy the tastes of Vermont at a 6pm tasting of Vermont-made Cabot Creamery cheese and Vermont-brewed Long Trail beer in the lobby of the Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA, 527 Tremont Street.
Cabot Creamery is a farm family-owned cooperative located in Montpelier, VT producing all natural, award-winning cheeses, including the "World's Best Cheddar," as well as a variety of flavored cheddars. Long Trail Brewing Company, a microbrewery located in Bridgewater Coolers, VT, produces a number of styles of year-round, seasonal, and specialty beers. It received Yankee Magazine's 2010 "Best of New England - Reader's Choice" award and the Vermont Governor's Award for Environmental Excellence for the EcoBrew program.
Saturday, November 6 is also a Marathon Day: audience can attend all three plays in the festival in the single day.
The Shirley, VT Plays continue for the next two weeks: Circle Mirror Transformation plays through Sunday, November 14; Body Awareness and The Aliens play through Saturday, November 20. Each production is receiving widespread critical acclaim.
