Talk-backs Scheduled for All-female Hamlet with GAN-e-meed Theatre Project

By:

Following the GAN-e-meed Theatre Project production of Hamlet on two Saturdays, the audience is invited to stay and discuss the production with members of the cast. "We are excited to include the audience in the total experience" says SerahRose Roth, Producing Artistic Director and star of Hamlet. "We have a back-stage blog, findinghamlet.com where members of the cast have posted at various points in the process, and now audiences can connect directly with the actors after experiencing the show. We have enjoyed exploring the many characters with our unique perspectives as women, and would love to hear how it reaches the audience."

Hamlet runs for one more weekend in Lowell (May 14-16) before moving to Somerville for a two-week run (May 21-30). Performances are Friday and Saturday at 7pm and Sun at 6pm. Audiences are urged to buy tickets soon as the very intimate spaces are filling quickly.

GAN-e-meed Theatre Project launches their first season with a passionate modern interpretation of Shakespeare's Hamlet featuring an all-female cast. It runs one more weekend in Lowell before transferring for a two-week run in Somerville. Producing Artistic Director SerahRose Roth leads the impressive cast as the prince who, charged with a mission by his father's ghost, must unravel his family's mysteries with spies lurking at every turn. Director Christopher Webb has created a stripped-down version which exposes the core of passion, manipulation, and the many poisons of families.

About GAN-e-meed Theatre Project
GAN-e-meed Theatre Project was founded in 2009 to advance the role of women in theatre: the experienced and novice, young and old, artist and leader. To accomplish this, their seasons are created from shows proposed by female artists (actress, stage manager, designer, playwright, or director), and they promote the study of and visibility of gender bias within the theatre community. GAN-e-meed Theatre Project hopes to be the catalyst to establishing gender equity in New England theatre. For additional information about GAN-e-meed events, to purchase tickets for Hamlet, or to join the mailing list, visit www.ganemeed.org.
