Laughter League Live! Celebrates Boston Children's Hospital Clown Healthcare Team

Laughter REALLY is medicine and we prove it every day. The Foundation For Laughter proudly announces the debut of LAUGHTER LEAGUE LIVE, a one-of-kind benefit evening of comedy celebrating the work of the Laughter League Healthcare Clown team at Boston Children's Hospital.

The benefit will be held Thursday, November 1, 2018, in the Virginia Wimberly Theatre, Calderwood Pavilion at Boston Center for the Arts, 527 Tremont Street, South End. Performance is at 7:30 PM. Tickets for performance: $50 adults, $30 children 12 and under. Special VIP Cocktails and Clowns pre-show at 6:30 pm. Get up close and personal with the Laughter League performers ($100). Tickets will go on sale in September. For tickets visit bostontheatrescene.com or call 617-933-8600 or in person at the Boston Theatre Scene box office. For general information visit laughterleague.org.

Every day for the past 22 years, through the work of the Laughter League, teams of professionally trained performers transform pain and worry into moments of light and laughter. Locally, these hospital performers "write prescriptions" for laughter to support healing in pediatric care settings at Boston Children's Hospital.

"Laughter League performers work closely with Child Life Departments and Medical staff to identify patients in need of a laugh," says Laughter League president Tiffany Riley. "Performers are integral parts of the circle of care in many hospitals, providing distraction during procedures, encouraging kids to walk, eat, take medicine, or simply empower them for a few moments during their hospitalization. Our programs instill moments of joy when illness and disease take a back seat to simply being a kid."

The Laughter League Clown Program Team features Brian Dwyer (Dr. Gon Golphin), Jay Stewart (Doc Skeeter), Jeffrey Smithson (Dr. Bafu), Meryl Galaid (Dr. Dazzle), Mal Malme (Dr. Mal Adjusted), Joe Howard (Dr. Joekelele), Robb Preskins (Dr. Gonzo), Leah Abel (Dr. Bucket Buster), Jenny Oberhauser (Dr. BeBopper), BB Widdop (Nurse BB), and Laughter League founders, Dick Monday (Dr. Monday) and Tiffany Riley (Dr. Slappy).

Laughter League is a 501(c)3 organization committed to improving the lives of the children and families they serve through the transformational power of laughter. Laughter League currently provides laughter care at Boston Children's Hospital, Hasbro Children's Hospital in Rhode Island and Cook Children's Medical Center in Texas. There are professional medical clown programs in more than twenty-five countries, including Israel, France, Holland, Brazil, Canada, Australia and beyond.

Special thanks to the League of the Boston Children's Hospital.
