FSPA’s Electric Youth to Perform at Franklin Common 7/20

By:

Electric Youth, (EY) the international touring ensemble of talented singer-dancers trained at the Franklin School for the Performing Arts (FSPA), will be featured at Franklin Common on July 20th at 6:00 p.m. as part of the Franklin Concerts on The Common series. The concert is free and open to the public - bring your lawn chairs!

Backed by a professional band of Boston-based musicians, Electric Youth's musical repertoire ranges from classic rock, to current pop music, from Broadway to country, and swing to R &B. EY will perform numbers by Katy Perry, Guns n' Roses, Aerosmith and Queen at the concert.

Known for exciting choreography and impressive, multi-harmony vocals, Electric Youth is comprised of area students aged 14-18 who study Music, Dance and Drama at FSPA. The Franklin concert is the final concert for Electric Youth 2011. Graduating six EY seniors this year, FSPA will hold auditions to cast Electric Youth 2012 in late August.

Fresh from performing on a weeklong cruise onboard Royal Caribbean's Oasis of the Seas, Electric Youth will next sing the national anthem at Fenway Park on August 1st at the game between the Red Sox and the Cleveland Indians.

Electric Youth has toured Europe eight times, recorded six CDs and appeared on Fox 25 television three times, most recently following the American Idol finals in May. Electric Youth's new 2011 CD, All Amped Up, will be available for purchase at the Franklin concert. Young concert-goers will also have the opportunity to join the EY Fan Club at the Franklin event.

Electric Youth 2011 members are Giovanna Ferri, Ali Funkhouser, Galen Hancock, Melissa Mandia, Avery McStay, Lucas Melfi, and Catherine Weiss of Franklin; Michael Egan of Hopkinton; Lindsey White of Mansfield; Erica McLaughlin of Medfield; Jef Mettler of Westborough; and Callie Liljeberg of Wrentham.
