Casting Announced for Peregrine Theatre Ensemble's Production of BUYER & CELLAR

By:

Casting has been announced for Peregrine Theatre Ensemble's final production of their 2016 season: Buyer and Cellar by Jonathan Tolins and starring Nic Cory. Opening August 22nd at the Provincetown Theater.

About Buyer and Cellar: Alex More has a story to tell. A struggling actor in L.A., he takes a job working in the Malibu basement of a beloved megastar, Barbra Streisand. One day, the Lady Herself comes downstairs to play. It feels like real bonding in the basement, but will their relationship ever make it upstairs? BUYER & CELLAR is an outrageous comedy about the price of fame, the cost of things, and the oddest of odd jobs.

Actor Nic Cory who stars in Peregrine Theatre Ensemble's version of this off-Broadway hit writes: "In Buyer and Cellar, Jonathan Tolins has written a love-letter to theater-goers and Barbra fanatics everywhere. However, it is a comedy with an incredibly poignant message at its core: we are all perfectly imperfect human beings and, as such, we should always strive to accept ourselves. Each and every one of our fabulous flaws must be appreciated."

Adam Berry, Executive Director of Peregrine Theatre Ensemble says "We are overjoyed to be able to produce the Cape Cod regional premier of Buyer and Cellar. I think this production really speaks to our audience. It is a quick-witted comedy that reaches each and every person on a multitude of levels. It's a fascinating (fictional) account of the life of Barbra Streisand based on an actual book she wrote 'My Passion For Design'. It's a study on the cultural obsession of mega stars and what really goes on behind the velvet curtain. Barbra Streisand in all her imagined or non-imagined glory!"

Peregrine Theatre Ensemble's one-man production of Buyer and Cellar stars Nic Cory. Nic is an actor, writer and teacher living in New York City. He performs this role after having premiered BUYER & CELLAR regionally last summer at Mason Street Warehouse. Off-Broadway credits include: PAGEANT (2014 Drama Desk Nomination: Best Musical Revival); ONE THRILLING COMBINATION; THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW; SIGNS OF LIFE; THE BOYS UPSTAIRS. Nic is also a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University.

At the helm of this production is Adam Berry, Executive Director of Peregrine Theatre Ensemble. Production team includes: Ellen Rousseau Scenic Designer; Bailey Costa Lighting Designer; Production Supervisor Nick Cearley; Production Stage Manager Bella Tasha and Artistic Director of Peregrine Theatre Ensemble Ben Berry.
