Cape Rep Theatre begins its 2009 Daytime Children's Shows in its Outdoor Theatre (if it rains, we go indoors) with the beloved Pitter Patter Puppets and the musical adaptation of the Hans Christian Anderson story The Emperor's New Clothes, book and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens and music by Stephen Flaherty.

Pitter Patter Puppets will open June 23 and run through September 1 on Tuesdays in the Outdoor Theatre (if it rains, we go indoors). There is no performance August 4. Renowned Puppeteer Mary Wilson will direct herself in this one-woman tour-de-force. Tickets, priced at $8, are available by calling 508.896.1888 or visiting www.caperep.org.

Puppeteer Mary Wilson's wildly popular puppet shows are interactive, inventive, and extremely funny. Perfect for ages 2-6 and great fun for ages 7-100 too.

The Emperor's New Clothes will open June 24 and run through September 3 on Wednesdays and Thursdays in the Outdoor Theatre (if it rains, we go indoors). Victoria Flores, who helmed 2008's Smash-Hit Frog & Toad, will direct. Book and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, music by Stephen Flaherty. Tickets, priced at $10, are available by calling 508.896.1888 or visiting www.caperep.org. Robert R. Troie will design the sets. Costumes are by Robin McLaughlin. The cast includes Jared Hagan, Christopher E. Schultz, Jessica Albon, Meghan Magrath, and Corey Wiesner. Holly Erin McCarthy is stage-managing.

Emperor Marcus the Third is only 14 and thinks he needs to dress in the finest clothes to do his job. He discovers that clothes don't make the man and "no matter how grand or small you appear, the person who counts is the person in here!" One of the most exciting and successful teams in America's musical Theatre World, Aherns and Flaherty, have created a wonderful musical adaptation of this famous Hans Christian Anderson story.

The Cape Rep 2009 Indoor Theatre Season includes the Olivier Award Winner for Best Comedy Stones in His Pockets, the classic Broadway musical My Fair Lady, the moving Our Country's Good, and our 15th annual Broadway musical dinner revue at the Old Sea Pines Inn. Subscriptions and single tickets can be obtained by calling 508.896.1888 or at www.theatremania.com. For more information visit www.caperep.org.
