Berkshire Theatre Group is establishing a new department, Institutional Advancement, to support the BTG's outreach to all of its donors, friends and supporters. The new department will be headed initially by Phil Deely according to Artistic Director/CEO, Kate Maguire.

Kate Maguire said, "The staff and I welcome Phil, in the new position of Director of Institutional Advancement and we are grateful to be working with someone who shares our dedication and passion for Berkshire Theatre Group. Phil performed on the great Fitzpatrick Main Stage when he was 9 years old. He brings great historical connections, treasured experience and wisdom to us, now."

Ruth Blodgett, BTG Board President, says, "Phil's institutional advancement approach will help BTG enhance our ongoing development programs. We look to patrons and friends to help us present exciting new programming, and to continue to repair and update our campuses in Pittsfield and Stockbridge."

Phil Deely says, "I am thrilled to join BTG's staff. Institutional advancement represents a merger of strategic visioning and fund raising. My emphasis is on working with an engaged Board of Trustees and senior staff to identify and prioritize needs and match interested individual donors, foundations, and businesses with important projects."

Phil Deely is an experienced development professional who served as Associate Direction/External Relations at the Norman Rockwell Museum from 1990-2000 during the museum's Campaign for Norman Rockwell to build the museum's Robert AM Stern-designed building. Currently Phil is serving as a volunteer supporting The Stockbridge Library Association's campaign for an modernized building and with his wife, Hilary, are among the co-chairs of The Campaign For BCD [Berkshire Country Day School].

The Colonial Theatre, founded in 1903, and Berkshire Theatre Festival, founded in 1928, are two of the oldest cultural organizations in the Berkshires. Having united in November of 2010 under the leadership of Artistic Director and CEO Kate Maguire, these two institutions are providing the Berkshires and beyond with the finest in live theatre, music, dance and the visual arts in Stockbridge, MA and Pittsfield, MA. The Fitzpatrick Main Stage (400 seats), cataloged by the National Register of Historic Places, was originally designed and built by Stanford White as the Stockbridge Casino in 1888. The intimate Unicorn Theatre (122 seats) is a home for emerging artists and new theatrical ideas. The Colonial in Pittsfield (780 seats) re-opened in August of 2006, following a $21 million restoration, and boasts pristine acoustics, classic gilded age architecture and state-of-the-art technical systems. BTG also performs at The Garage, a music venue located in the lobby of The Colonial. BTG serves over 100,000 patrons per year and reaches over 13,000 students through its educational and outreach programs. For more information on BTG call (413) 448-8084.
