ArtsEmerson Announces Bedlam in Repertory: SAINT JOAN and HAMLET

ArtsEmerson, Boston's leading presenter of contemporary world theatre, proudly welcomes New York's Bedlam for Hamlet andSaint Joan in repertory. The two productions feature a brand new cast of 4 actors, playing a total of 49 characters for two riveting, stripped down, stagings, both directed by Bedlam founder Eric Tucker. The productions run three weeks, March 7 through 25, 2018 at the Emerson Cutler Majestic Theatre, located at 219 Tremont Street in Downtown Boston. About Hamlet

Prince Hamlet is depressed. Having been summoned home to Denmark to attend his father's funeral, he is shocked to find his mother already remarried - to his father's brother, Claudius. Worse still, Claudius has had himself crowned king despite the fact that Hamlet is heir to the throne. No wonder Hamlet suspects foul play. Bedlam brings their unique performance style to Shakespeare's greatest play - arguably the greatest play in the English language - and four actors perform all 25 roles! In this epic story, Shaw paints Joan of Arc not as a saint, witch or madwoman, but a farm girl who is an illiterate intellectual, a true genius whose focus on the individual rocked the Church and State to their core. Four actors perform all 24 roles in Bedlam's production of George Bernard Shaw's Saint Joan, declared "Irresistible! Ferocious!" and "A force of nature!" by The New York Times.

A NY based actor from Florida, he's worked regionally with companies including Mad Cow Theatre, Summer Repertory Theatre, New Swan Shakespeare festival and the B Street Theatre. Some favorite roles include Robert in Boeing Boeing, Touchstone in As You Like It, Lee in True West, Liam in Bad Jews, and Michal in The Pillowman. He will be making his film debut this year opposite Christian Bale in Adam McKay's Backseat. A proud member of Actors Equity and honored to be represented by the team at CLA Management!

Aubie Merrylees

Aubie received a Barrymore nomination for Outstanding Actor in a Play for his turn as Jason/Tyrone in Hand to God at the Philadelphia Theatre Company last season. His first Barrymore nomination came for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a play for Annie Baker's The Aliens at Theatre Exile. At the Arden Theatre, Merrylees starred as Con in Stupid f-ing Bird, written and directed by Aaron Posner, and in Rachel Bonds' haunting At the Old Place. Other regional appearances include Caucasian Chalk Circle at Yale Rep, The Liar at The Lantern, and A Bright New Boise at Simpatico. Aubie is also a company member at People's Light & Theatre, where he has appeared in many productions including End Days, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Beautiful Boyand Stargirl.
