Foo Fighter's front man, Dave Grohl, still playing in Nirvana at the time, said they felt like they had ‘made it' when "Weird Al" Yankovic recorded a parody of the band's monster hit "Smells Like Teen Spirit." Since 1976 and having sold more than 12 million records, Yankovic has ‘made it' practIce To create humorous songs and choose contemporary artist's tracks to parody. His latest release is "Perform This Way," a take on Lady Gaga's "Born This Way."

Weird Al stops in Boise for a live concert on Friday, September 16, at 8 p.m., at the Morrison Center. Tickets are reserved seating and cost $49.50, $39.50 and $29.50. Applicable fees may apply. Tickets go on sale Friday, July 29, at noon, and can be purchased at the Morrison Center Box Office (2201 Cesar Chavez Lane - formerly Campus Lane), Select-A-Seat Outlets, via phone at 208-426-1110 and online at IdahoTickets.com or JadePresents.com. Three-time Grammy award winner and nine-time Grammy nominee for comedy recordings, it seems with each decade, Weird Al hones in on the perfect parody to music's biggest hits - "Eat It." "Dare to Be Stupid," "Fat," "Smells Like Nirvana," "I Lost on Jeopardy," "Another Rides the Bus," "Like a Surgeon," "Amish Paradise," "Gump" and a slew of others, comprise this accordion-playing musician. He has recorded over 150 parody and original songs.

With the advent of MTV, the perfect marriage of video and song suited Weird Al's comedy and artistic eye. Pop culture will forever mark his performances in "Eat It" and "Fat" as juxtapositions to icon Michael Jackson's ‘80s hits. Jackson, along with Madonna, Red Hot Chili Peppers and some of music's biggest names, approved each parody. His live shows feature a mix of music and video, and multiple costume changes.

The Morrison Center is located at 2201 Cesar Chavez Lane. Visit WeirdAl.com.
