Company of Fools, Idaho's award-winning theatre company, will present a reading of GUIDING LIGHT on Thursday, April 18. Sun Valley Center's multidisciplinary project Home Front running now through May 25 explores the ways individuals recover from and communities respond to the realities of war. As a part of this larger conversation Company of Fools offers this exciting free play reading.

This Thursday at 7PM at the Liberty Company of Fools will be reading from the current incarnation of a new play we commissioned from Clay McLeod Chapman entitled Guiding Light. This new play, revolves around a medium, Tabitha, who is able to communicate with the spirits of soldiers who died in the line of duty...or so she says. Clay is here from NY for the entire week as is Hanna Cheek - one of the actors in the piece.

Often times the development of a new play does not allow for the larger artistic team to work together early on in the process. Company of Fools is very lucky to have a group of donors whose commitment and passion towards the development of new work allowed for this to take place - Kathy Abelson & Rob Cornell, Theresa Castellano Wood & Benjamin Wood, Priscilla Pittiglio and Tim Mott. A deep felt thank you to these amazing theatrical angels.

This week Company of Fools has the opportunity to work together - in person - speaking the words out loud, asking questions, following the current storyline down a few rabbit holes - throwing things out! And then on Thursday, the group will read it aloud for those who join them - and afterwards the team will get to discuss - together - what worked, what didn't, what hit - what missed. Basically - the glorious mess that occurs when creating art.

The director Peter Brook once said, "The true process of construction involves at the same time a sort of demolition. This means accepting fear. All demolitions create a dangerous space in which there are fewer crutches and fewer supports."
