The first production in Aspire Community Theatre's 2017-2018 season is the Mel Brooks musical,Young Frankenstein. Young Frankenstein was originally conceived in 1974 by partners Brooks and and late comedian Gene Wilder, when the movie of the same name was released. The film, well received by critics and audiences alike, seemed a likely candidate for a musical makeover, especially after the success of The Producers, (another of Brooks' stories which successfully transferred from movie-to-musical). Brooks and Meehan, the team responsible for The Producers would join forces again to re-conceive Young Frankenstein as a full scale musical.

All of the spirited and hilarious characters from the original story are intact in this unconventional telling of the classic horror story. The addition of Inga, a "high spirited" ingenue, catchy songs and theatrical razzmatazz, adds to the comic genius and nonstop mayhem that only a Brooks comedy is capable of.

24 of the areas talented performers will be sharing the Salvation Army Kroc Center stage, acting, singing and dancing to tunes like "Puttin' On The Ritz", "He Vas My Boyfriend", Transylvannia Mania", and more! Tickets can be purchased online at www.aspirecda.com or by visiting the Box Office at the Kroc two hours prior to performances. This production may not be suitable for young audiences and has a suggested rating of PG-13.

Aspire Community Theatre offers a conservatory approach to theatre education, and provides something tangible to work on for the young and young-at-heart artists in our area. In addition to main stage productions, Aspire Community Theatre hopes to offer Master Classes, smaller scale performance opportunities, and technical experience to the theatre artist wanting to sink their teeth into interesting (and entertaining) productions; theatre produced in the same way professional companies approach their material and with the same expectation of the budding professional.
