I'm sorry, but this award it too confusing and not only that...I think the "rules" leave some excellent performers inelligable. I just don't think this should be a category. A Tony award she still be awarded to the originator of the role. If a replacement is truly special, it is most likely they may end up originating a role in the future of their career...so leave the nomination until then. I have said this before...this seems like a ploy just to be able to give star replacements like Harvey and Brooke Shields an award.

It's more likely it was created to acknowledge the fact that there are replacements who are every bit as good as and in some cases better than the originators of the role. I think having it as a category of its own is a much better idea than London's Olivier awards where everyone is nominated together, originals and replacements.


Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.
