re: What movies would make good plays NOT musicals  Sep 24 2006, 08:34:59 PM
Or we could the HILLS HAVE EYES... Or CUJO...

no but seriously...

I think Love Actually would be hard to do as a play. It is too large and scoping...And it is my all time favorite movie!!! But Maybe Four Weddings and a Funeral... That might be cool.

re: New Song 'Listen' from Dreamgirls Movie  Sep 7 2006, 02:31:35 PM
If you buy the cd at WALMART it is after track 10... It is a "secret track" and she talks about it being such an amazing movie. Also there is some other stuff she does. I have to say i was really impressed. And I think that with the song (if put in right) will show that Curtis was the "puppet master" to ruining these girls lives in the scheme of things.

re: Orfeh Rocks!!  Aug 22 2006, 08:27:44 PM
She was the best thing about SNF. I did like it for the fluff but she was AWESOME.

I only wish I could have seen her in other stuff.

She would make a good Evita?

re: Can someone explain Patti LuPone?  Aug 22 2006, 08:24:56 PM
SHUT UP PATTI LUPONE.....

I love her cause she is one of the few who can be so self deprecating and she is great and making fun of herself. She is fabulous. She was great in her concert. I think alot of it has to do with her speaking voice. It is very brassy tough as nails and some people may be put off by it.

I personally adore her and think that her Matters of the Heart has some of her best work.

re: Laurents vs. LuPone - does Sondheim have a say?  Aug 22 2006, 08:22:28 PM
Whew... That is like watching a telenovela. I just think Bette should go and do it on Broadway. Then I would be a happy camper.

re: Worst Seasons on Broadway?  May 10 2006, 09:32:40 PM
I hate to say that when I was growing up and falling head over heals with theater they used to say that the 80s was a really bad time for shows. DROOD, Leader of the Pack, Big River, Big Deal, My One and Only, and so many others. I have to say that, I loved those shows as they were the modern shows that I watched growing up on the Tony's. But they claim that was the worst time in a long time.
re: Broadway Theaters to be Renamed in the Future  May 10 2006, 09:28:43 PM
I love the Drama-o-rama Playhouse.

and the

Flops Theater

re: Overrated Shows  May 10 2006, 09:24:29 PM
CATS will always be one of those Overrated shows to me. I enjoyed it the first time but then it was like snooooooze!
re: Wildhorn's THE CIVIL WAR in Gettysburg!  May 4 2006, 01:36:46 PM
I live in York, Pa and I plan on going to see it for my birthday. I think it will do well. They are building more and more in the area. They have another theater they just built and they are trying to make it a little more "tourist" friendly. There is hope that one of the new permits for a Casino is given to a company that wants to built one at the 30/15 intersection. I think it would do well and I think that it would bring more people into the area.
re: Disney reveals how they will stage THE LITTLE MERMAID  Apr 29 2006, 12:02:23 AM
I am so so sorry.
They can only cast one person. The only one who can play her as she is. The talented and wonderful and campy and hysterical and crass and crazy and fabulous...

SHARON MCNIGHT.

re: GYPSY Recordings.... Monologue beforehand...  Apr 28 2006, 01:45:01 PM
I guess I will do the Delores Grey version.

I like it alot, I just KNOW some damn drag queen is going to be all "Who was that.. Bernedette Peters? Tyne Daly? That was no Angela Lansbury...."

lol

GYPSY Recordings.... Monologue beforehand...  Apr 27 2006, 09:29:23 PM
I have a version of Rose's Turn from a show called Stairway to Heaven and I believe it is Delores Gray. She actually does the whole monologue beforehand. The one about being born to ealry and starting too late....
I am sure there is a way for me to figure out if there are any other versions of it out there but I thought I would ask you all.

Does a cast recording have the monologue prior to Rose's Turn???
