Broadway Revival of Our Town?  Apr 3 2024, 11:16:46 AM

One of my favorite plays ever...with one of the worst casts I've seen in years.  Jim Parsons really?? Is anyone asking for this?  He does one thing and even that he doesn't do well.  He and Katie Holmes need to stop asking for stage roles, they are not good on stage. Let real actors play these parts.

Oh well, we will always have David Cromer's Barrow Street Theatre production.

THE WIZ Previews  Apr 3 2024, 11:07:40 AM

One of the worst things I've ever seen on broadway, no exaggeration.  The cast, like others have said, is incredible.  All singing 10/10 and LOVED the Tin Man.  The voices in this show are all glorious.  But that said, the direction and choreography and production all are not up to par.  I found this production to be an insulting cash grab, instead of the full and thoughtful revival this show deserves.  The sets and costumes look like a high school production

The play is naturalistic, but the production offered a theatrical prism on the story that allowed an almost metaphysical construct, the piece's gritty details measured against a benevolent universe. Will be curious to see if that imagery is used here.

It's a beautiful,

Lindsay Mendez in Merrily We Roll Along  Jan 15 2024, 11:29:29 AM

I think people are annoyed when actors do this because if you can't do 8 shows a week, then Broadway isn't for you.  It's the Olympics of acting and there are literally 1000s of insanely talented people waiting in the wings so when someone is calling out left and right, for a role that isn't even that difficult vocally, it is bound to annoy some people.  If you are a legend playing a very difficult part (see Bernadette in Gypsy) then that is a different story.

Gutenberg is $650K!!?!? That is wild! I'm sure the two of them are mak

I can't really blame her...good as she might have been in it, it would be yet another comparison to Chita, and anecdotally I know there are a lot of agents cautioning their clients on which projects to take if a show is solely relying on their star power to sell. Agents don't want their clients to be the face of a financial disaster that closes after 5 months. At best, Ariana&#

Tveit and Sutton are the names being floated right now.  I heard they already signed.

Sinatra the Musical Beginning September 23 UK's Birmingham Theatre  Oct 17 2023, 10:28:59 AM

Completely baffled by people's love of Matt Doyle.  I find him bland and vanilla and this project only highlights it more.  He sounds nothing like Sinatra and the clips of him singing make me cringe.

Never. Next question.  This is live theatre.  Is anything safe from these people?

LuPone is done with Broadway  May 20 2023, 12:13:22 PM

Patti, while obviously a great performer over the years, has really shown the worst side of herself over the past decade.  She does nothing to help charities, organizations or other actors.  You see people like Bernadette and Stephanie J. Block helping everywhere they can, meanwhile Patti tells everyone to "figure it out" and she's not dealing with it.  Please go away and just stop.

I adored Casey for ages but haven't enjoyed any of his work at all sinceSomething Rotten. It feels like he lost his magic touch a few years ago.

Absolutely agree!  Casey hasn't done anything good since Book of Mormon, and even most of that was Jason Moore.

Ariana just sounds like a high schooler next to Milligan.  It's a little painful

WAY TOO EARLY 2023 Tony Award Predictions  Mar 4 2023, 04:14:30 PM

Any chance we could not talk about gender for one minute and get back to predictions???  I'm all for non-gendered categories, just maybe start a different thread about it.

First Look at Hulu's UP HERE musical series by the Lopezes  Feb 2 2023, 10:17:25 AM

I love this cast and I’m a big Bobby Lopez fan, but this was one of the worst shows I’ve ever seen. I don’t know how they will make this good unless there was a significant overhaul to the source material. I’ve never heard so many bad reviews for a show from friends as this one in 2015. It was nearly impossible to sit through.

Not finalized but confirmed yes

Josh Gad return to Broadway?  Jan 30 2023, 12:35:50 PM

Whoever said Gutenberg the Musical hit the nail on the head.  Though for the life of me I have no clue why anyone would want to see that show.  But fine, I like Gad and glad he will be back.
