The Whole Backstage Theatre Holds Auditions For JOSEPH 6/18-19

By: Jun. 03, 2010

AUDITIONS for the adult members of the cast will be June 18 and 198 at 6:30 PM, and June 20 at 10 AM. Auditions for the 30 member children's chorus will be August 6 at 6:30 PM, and Aug. 7 at 10 AM. Audition material will be in area libraries and at The Whole Backstage by June 1. Singing and dancing rehearsals will begin in late June.

Parts needed are: Joseph, Jacob, his father, 11 brothers, a female narrator, 11 wives, Potipher, Potifer's wife, a butler, a baker, the Pharaoh, a company of 8 female dancers, a company of 8 male dancers, a chorus of men and women and a children's chorus of approximately 30 children.

The Story:
Joseph, a young man with a knack for having prophetic dreams, and the favorite son in the family, incurs the jealousy of his brothers when he is given a magnificent coat of many colors by his doting father. Joseph's brothers sell him into slavery in Egypt, where his special gifts save the
country from famine and eventually secure him a position as the Pharaoh's right-hand man. In due time he is reunited with his now contrite and guilt-ridden brothers. The story makes the point that one must reach for one's dreams, and they will come to pass.

The songs are a tongue-in-cheek blend of calypso, ‘50's rock and roll, country-western, vaudeville and even French art song. JOSEPH is a winning, rollicking ensemble show that is ideal family entertainment, great with and for young AND older people.

Performance Dates: November 26-Dec. 5, 2010. This performance is in addition to our season, and is not part of the regular season tickets.
