TAKE THE STAGE Amateur Talent Comp. Auditions Begin 6/4- 6/7

The Whole Backstage Theatre is pleased to announce auditions for a new, amateur talent competition this summer called TAKE THE STAGE, intended to draw from performers of all kinds from Alabama and surrounding states.
The 2009 TAKE THE STAGE talent competition will take place in June at the Whole Backstage Theatre, with preliminary rounds on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, June 4, 5, and 6, with the final competition round on Sunday, June 7. The competition is open to amateur performers - both individuals and groups - age eight (8) years and up. Talent can be any type of amateur entertainment (singing, dancing, instrumental music, martial arts, comedy, dramatic performance, etc.) suitable for a family audience. Up to sixty acts will be selected to compete in the preliminary rounds from the audition materials submitted. Acts will be evaluated and scored by a panel of judges composed of local and regional representatives of education, business, politics, and many areas of the entertainment industry. The ten top scoring acts from the preliminary rounds will advance to the final round of competition, to vie for first, second and third place cash and prizes totaling at least $1,000.
