The Strand Theater invites you to its first annual Friends and Neighbors Festival! Our inaugural festival includes a variety of performers, playwrights, and comedians. Every week, for seven weeks, a new artist will take the stage for one weekend to showcase a new performance. The Strand Theater dedicates itself to providing new exciting viable affordable works to the Baltimore community. Every show in the festival is only $5. Artistic Director, Jayme Kilburn is "very excited about this festival. Every new work we present is a new adventure."
The Friends and Neighbors Festival includes Baltimore playwright, Michael Leroy Harding, who examines the life of a family during the 1968 riots. Playwright, Deborah Blank, tells the story of a scheming temptress who tears one man's life apart. The Strand's own Alex Hewett performs a self written piece about the struggle of divorce and living in the wake of a new beginning. Kerra Holtgren performs as Penelope, an old star making her comeback. Playwright Warren Holleman turns Shakespeare on its head, while Ashley Straw kicks off the festival with a glimpse into society's obsession with celebrity.The Friends and Neighbors Festival runs Friday, May 22nd thru Sunday, July 5th. Friday and Saturday performances begin at 8PM, Sunday performances begin at 3PM. Each performance is $5.
