The second annual Women in Theatre Conference has been rescheduled to June 3, 2017. The regional conference is an opportunity for women working in theatre and for college students exploring the theatre profession to share experiences and expertise. Sponsored by Rep Stage, Howard Community College Horowitz Visual and Performing Arts Center, and 4 Wall Entertainment, the conference will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Horowitz Center on the campus of Howard Community College.

This year's conference theme, "Balance and Connection," invites theatre practitioners across disciplines to explore concerns unique to women in the theatre. The keynote speaker will be Caleen Sinnette Jennings, who is a D.C.-based playwright, director, and professor of theatre at American University. A two-time Helen Hayes award nominee, Jennings is a founding member of The Welders, a Washington, D.C. playwrights' collaborative. In addition to the keynote address, the conference's sessions will examine such issues as working in male-dominated disciplines, juggling personal and professional roles, diversity in production and design, building connections, and managing an acting career across a lifetime.

"We received such positive feedback after our inaugural year," said Janelle Broderick, director of the Horowitz Center and logistics coordinator for the conference, "We recognized that this conference fulfills a need for women in theatre to support, learn, and share our professional experiences."

To register for the conference, contact the Horowitz Center Box Office at 443-518-1500 or visit www.howardcc.edu/womenintheatre.
