Glass Mind Theatre Features ADAPTING CINDERELLA, et al. in 2nd Season

By: Jul. 20, 2011

As Glass Mind Theatre bids adieu to their inaugural season, the company is excited to greet Season 2: Arrivals and Departures. The season's theme will serve as a thread for all of the productions and events of the season.

Glass Mind welcomes the season with the Baltimore premiere of Stephen Adly Guirgis' biting and raw comedy, Den of Thieves. When an eclectic quartet plans a heist that goes inevitably wrong, the ensuing situation asks them: Who of the morally ambiguous crew deserves to die? Den of Thieves will run from September 16-25 at Load of Fun Theatre (LOF/t). The season continues with Glass Mind Associate Artistic Director Sarah Ford Gorman's drama, And Underneath The Moon. Young couple Josh and Olivia are expecting a child after several difficulties. However, will the arrival of a new family member dismember the family? New company member Lynn Morton will direct this world premiere, which will also play at the LOF/t from December 2-18. In Adapting Cinderella, the company delves into how different cultures tell the story of the slipper and the person who wore it. From a magical fish in Asian Waters, to the kindness of a girl in the forests of Africa, the company will take you on a journey through different storytelling styles, ending with the emptiness of a big city penthouse.

Closing out Arrivals and Departures will be Glass Mind's third annual play festival, Brainstorm 3: Mind the Gap. Glass Mind fans and supporters will once again help us shape the show by suggesting locations. Whether it's the point where four states meet, a Parisian Cafe or a crater on the moon, these locations will be the inspiration our playwrights need to create their works. Those locations and the playwrights are then mixed-and-matched with each playwright finishing another's play.
Throughout our second season, we are excited to provide In-Flight Entertainment, smaller, intimate events outside of our mainstage season. In-Flight Entertainment serves as a way to hear more from Baltimore's artistic scene. Events include a cabaret, play readings and our second installment of 360 Storytelling.

If supporters have concepts for this season's In-Flight Entertainment or something we may be interested in developing for future seasons, they should email submit@glassmindtheatre.com.
Supporters should keep an eye on www.glassmindtheatre.com, Twitter (@GlassMindThtr) and Glass Mind's Facebook Page to be the first to know about information regarding all events!
Glass Mind Theatre's Mission: We are Baltimore-rooted artists exploring the boundaries of the theatrical experience through interactive concepts. We collaborate with emerging voices and engage the Greater Baltimore community to develop original, innovative works full of risk, joy, and whimsy. We aspire to use creativity as a catalyst for dialogue, outreach, and reflection. As our city evolves, we hope to be a focal point for its artistic growth
