Celebrate the holiday season this year at the Community College of Baltimore County and enjoy a wonderful array of performing arts activities, from theatre performances, to music concerts, planetarium shows and much more. Most CCBC events are free or low cost and offer family-friendly fun to delight people of all ages. Bring your family and friends to see what you can do at CCBC.

DECEMBER

Dec. 1 - CCBC Classical Student Recital
12:20 p.m., CCBC Essex, Arts and Humanities Hall, Recital Hall

Visit the CCBC Essex campus to enjoy a diverse program of vocal and instrumental classical music.

Dec. 1 - What Was the Christmas Star?

8 p.m., CCBC Catonsville, Benjamin Banneker Planetarium, Math and Science Hall

There are many different explanations concerning what could have been the "Star of Bethlehem."

Come see what some of them are, based on both ancient writings and modern technology.
Outdoor observing afterward, weather permitting.

Dec. 1 - 4 - Everyman

7 p.m., Dec. 1, 2; 3 p.m., Dec. 3; 10 a.m., Dec. 4

Everyman is successful, popular and riding high when death comes calling. One of the great primal, spiritual myths, Everyman asks whether it is only in death that we can truly understand our lives.

Dec. 2 - The Last Christmas Tree

10 a.m., CCBC Catonsville, Benjamin Banneker Planetarium, Math and Science Hall
Enjoy a children's program at the Planetarium and learn what happens to the last Christmas tree in the sales lot, the one that nobody else wants. The show will feature an astronomy related holiday activity.

Dec. 2 - 17 - Children's Playhouse of Maryland: Scrooge!

1 p.m., Dec. 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17; 4:30 p.m., Dec. 10, 17; 7 p.m., Dec. 9

Enjoy the classic family tale of Ebenezer Scrooge, an old miser who is visited by the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future and his friend Tiny Tim.

Dec. 4 - CCBC Jazz Plus Ensemble

12:20 p.m., CCBC Essex, Romadka College Center, Upper Lounge

Come see this engaging student performance of standard and original jazz and pop compositions.

Dec. 6 - Winter Bazaar
10 a.m. - 2 p.m., CCBC Dundalk, College Community Center, First Floor (immediately after the Holiday Tree Lighting)
Enjoy holiday shopping by supporting local entrepreneurs and the CCBC Student Life Pantry at the annual Winter Bazaar. All proceeds benefit the campus food pantry so that no CCBC student has to choose between hunger and learning this winter.

FREE. Students, faculty, staff and the community are welcome to attend.

Dec. 6 - Student Vocal, Instrumental and Choral Concert

11:15 a.m., CCBC Catonsville, Center for the Arts Lounge

Hear classical, popular and musical theatre selections performed by students as well as a performance of the Catonsville Choral Ensemble, under the direction of Homeretta Ayala.

Free. Open to the public. No reservations required.

Dec. 6 - CCBC Electric Guitar Ensemble

7:30 p.m., CCBC Essex, Arts and Humanities, Building, Recital Hall

Enjoy a performance of music in the jazz and rock styles in solo and ensemble.

Dec. 7 - Alumni Holiday Concert Showcase

5 - 7 p.m., CCBC Dundalk, College Community Center, Upper Lobby

Listen to festive holiday music with performances by Mzz B Productions, CCBC Single Step, pianist Nancy Smith, and singer Kim Fink. Attendees are encouraged to bring donations of non-perishable food items for the CCBC Dundalk Student Life Pantry.

Dec. 8 - 9 - CCBC Chamber Singers in Concert

December 9 - Destination: Baltimore

2 p.m., CCBC Catonsville, Center for the Arts Theatre

A roof-raising, family-friendly good time will be had by all as the Footworks Percussive Dance Ensemble presents a two-set theatre production in celebration of the music and dance at the roots of Baltimore's multicultural history.

Tickets $10; free to current students with CCBC ID.

Dec. 14 - Powerhouse Jazz Ensemble

8 p.m., CCBC Essex, Robert and Eleanor Romadka College Center, F. Scott Black Theatre

Jazz standards, original works and big band favorites are played for all to enjoy.
