The Hope Slope by Marilyn Millstone
directed by Miriam Bazensky
1:00 PM

Julie is an accomplished, attractive, single woman of thirty-eight with two key things missing from her life: marriage and motherhood. She's hoping that both these things will happen with Josh, her boyfriend of the past six years and with whom she's now living. Enter Marissa, Josh's adult daughter from his first and only marriage, a troubled young woman with no job, no aspirations and no place to live. When Josh gives Marissa permission to move in with him and Julie, a host of troubling questions quickly arise: What does love really require of us? Is goodness sometimes weakness in disguise? What's the Fairy Godmother doing here? And whose wedding day is it, anyway?

Marilyn Millstone's first full-length play, The Sculptress, was produced by Fells Point Corner Theatre as part of the 2011 Baltimore Playwrights Festival; the BPF awarded it third prize in the categories of Best Play and Best Production. A monologue from her second full-length play, The Hope Slope, was selected by NYC-based troupe Hudson Warehouse for a performance at their Valentine's Day Monologue Festival in February 2015. A published poet, essayist and journalist, Marilyn's writings have appeared in The Washington Post, Bethesda Magazine, Symphony Magazine and American Style, among other publications. A proud member of Playwrights Forum and the Dramatists Guild of America, Marilyn resides with her husband Bill Apter in Kensington, Maryland.
